Mallorca is a stunning island off of mainland Spain. It is the largest of the Balearic Islands and has something for everyone. The beaches come in all shapes and sizes; some are wide, narrow, hidden, accessible, sandy, rocky etc. There are plenty of beaches perfect for kids with plenty to keep them entertained from rock pools to kayaking. Port de Soller

This is a stunning low-key area in the North West part of the island. The water is perfectly still and clear, hugged by the Tramuntana mountains. You can get to the port by car, hike or a vintage tram that runs from the main town Soller. There are also plenty of shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy a good meal after all the fun in the sun. The beach is also sandy for those who don’t like rocky beaches. It’s a great spot for paddle boarding as the water is so calm.

Playa de Muro

This 6 km long beach is filled with fine golden sand, shallow waters and lots of water activities. This is a good beach for families with young children due to the shallow calm water. Water-sports here include water-skiing, jet skiing, scuba diving and paragliding or for something a little more relaxing a ride on a glass bottom boat is an option. The area has plenty of amazing restaurants, beach chairs and bars. The other end of the beach is more tranquil with less hustle and bustle from the tourists and locals alike.

Palmanova Beach

Located near to Palma this is a great option for families who want both city and sea. The popular tourist resort has three beaches, clear sea and shallow waters. There’s plenty of space for building sandcastles or playing catch! Volleyball and water-sports are popular here, great for older kids. The beach offers amenities such as lifeguards, toilets, showers, sun loungers, bars and restaurants.

Portals Nous

This is a great family beach in an upmarket area. The idyllic beach is always filled with super-yachts and a short walk to the famous Puerto Portals marina where you can find designer stores, and fancy eateries. The beach has many commodities such as sun loungers, lifeguards, toilets, showers and lots of water-sports like jet skis, flyboards, paddle and pedalos. This is a great kid-friendly beach option in Mallorca.

Port de Pollensa

Located in the North of Mallorca and a firm family favourite over many generations is Port de Pollensa and for good reason. The sea is just perfect, and there are two very different styles of beaches here. The pine walk, which is a promenade lined crystal clear water heaven with 1920s buildings, cafes, bars, restaurants and general charm. The second is the smaller, more natural Albercutx beach. The horseshoe shaped bay is great for those who don’t like an endless expanse of ocean and it is definitely kid friendly due to the relaxed tranquil beach. This beach also has lots of water sports available and has a big sailing scene.
