Someone is wrong on the internet

I read an article about the UK government raising the prices on college tuition and the college students are protesting.

I post a comment quoting the article:

“Politicians don’t seem to care. They should be taking money from people who earn seven-figure salaries, not from students who don’t have any money.”

Ugh. I know it’s the Republican in me, but that statement pisses me off so much. So, so much.

Someone’s response:

You have to understand in America we have to defend everyone richer than us- there’s a chance we might be rich like them- do you have any idea how many lottery tickets we play there’s no way we can KEEP losing.

My response to them:

Is that why you defend gay people, because there’s a chance you might be gay like them? No? That’s just legitimately how you feel? IMPOSSIBLE. You could never defend them out of objectivity or trying to be fair! NEVARRRRR!

we defend gay people for the same reason we defend Jewish people, African-Americans and other groups that are routinely discriminated against.

    • I understand that, I’m not arguing that gay people shouldn’t have other people defend them. My point is I’m allowed to have an opinion on something that may or may not directly affect me.
